First and foremost, I hope every one of you and your families are safe and healthy as we all adjust to the new realities of the past few weeks.
Let me start by saying the 2020 OCRWC is going ahead as planned at this point in time.
Since day one, our primary concern has been and always will be the safety and well-being of our athletes. Today is no different. As we face these uncertain times, we face them together with our friends, training partners, competitors, and partner races from around the globe.
Based on input from you, our athletes, we are announcing some updates to the 2020 OCRWC.
- We are waiving all Age Group and Journeyman qualification requirements for the 2020 OCRWC. Our partner races have been hit hard, and we know many athletes who registered for the OCRWC in November have lost their planned opportunities to qualify. During these unprecedented times, we want to make sure the athletes who want to race with us are able to do so. This includes the many athletes who have already pre-registered with the aim of qualifying at a later date. As a result, our Journeyman athletes will now be assigned to their appropriate Age Group waves. Lastly, Pro heats will still require qualification, however athletes may use race results from 2019 or 2020.
- In the unlikely event we have to cancel the 2020 OCRWC, all registrations will be deferred to 2021. Though our registrations are non-refundable and non-transferable, we recognize the financial investment you’ve made in us and we want to do right by our athletes. In the event the OCRWC is not held as planned, we will automatically transfer all active registrations to OCRWC 2021 with no action required on your part.
Since the early days of the outbreak, our team has been closely monitoring the Covid-19 situation. While our event is still more than six months away, we will continue to look to guidance from our local and federal officials, as well as from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) in the United States.
Though 2020 is poised to be the most challenging year in the history of our sport, we have no doubt that our great community will carry on.
Our strength isn’t just reserved for race day.
We look forward to hosting you all this fall at Stratton Mountain Resort.
Stay safe, my friends.
